"Thermo" Screenshot Exclusive

Adobe MAX 2008 is going to be highlighting a new RIA product codenamed "Thermo". Working with the product development team directly I was able to get some exclusive screenshots of "Thermo". Make sure to take a look at the higher resolution images (linked). We will see a ton of "Thermo" at Adobe MAX 2008, see you there!

See you at Adobe MAX 2008!

Cheers,

Ted :)

Wow ! Excellent. The "CS4" chrome looks great on this app too. I can't wait to put my hands on this product ! Thanks for sharing these screenshots with the community.

Hmm... I see shades of Blend here... all in all can't wait to buy this and use it with my designers.

Ted, i'm just curious how the styling/timeline information is stored. is it actionscript/css? wrapped in a separate component?

Thanks a bunch for the screenshots! I'm not a designer but from what I can see Thermo looks like an application that could suit semi-hardcore coders as well.

If someone could share some info on when Thermo will be available in BETA I'd love to hear it!

seems your using mac yet the min/max/close buttons are on the right side of the chrome. Not so good for usability.

    Looks interesting.
    I like!!

no I think ted made a mistake saying its an AIR app. I think it's a regular desktop application For AIR apps.

Anyways, I can;t Wait to get my hands on it!!!

sweet! I heard that it's actuallay based on Eclipse and uses parts of the Flex Builder codebase to make round tripping easier (same code editor would make a lot of sense for example)

After the presentation at MAX, is it going to leave us hanging for another year, or will we get any usable information this time around(i.e. will it ship with Flex 4 or is there another ETA, when/where is the public beta, etc)?

What a tease! lol Thanks Ted!

HA! If the adobe thermo team honestly thinks that the above Thermo UI will appeal to designers they are on the crack pipe again. Somebody needs to slap those in charge enough so they do a bit more research on how designers work. I'm so sick and tired of coders giving tools to designers that don't even resemble something they use on a daily basis. That was the beauty of flash in the early days. Designers "got it". The last few versions of Flash and Flex have turned away more flash designers than I can count. Event listeners and OOP are not concepts that designers know nor should they have to. Using Eclipse (a coding tool) as a basis for building a designer tool is ridiculous, if the previous comments are in fact correct. Maybe somebody should take a look at the Flash UI and realize that Thermo should be Flash, or better yet, make the Flex design view actually worth something, or better yet, combine Flash/Flex/Thermo into a tool that designers and coders can all use.

He He.^^ But it looks good. Thanks.

@anonymous - You obviously haven't seen any of the other CS4 creative applications then. Check out Labs. Thermo has many of the same chrome and visual style elements as the rest of the Creative Suite will have, so it will be a familiar look and feel to designers as much as the next version of Photoshop.

You are right, that Thermo wont be a creative design tool to develop visual designs. I think the whole point of Thermo is, to bring creative visual designs together with interaction design concepts. Thermo (probably) is a tool which brings designers and developers together. Be it in one person or as "interface software to connect both parties in the development process. The roles of interface development change in the matter that programming and creative work comes closer together.(a related blog entry http://www.rialitycheck.com/blog/index.cfm/2008/6/24/Are-UI-roles-changing)
So theres no need to be scared, that the nice visual design tools disappear, its just a new toolset which appears right now (Expression Blend as well).

Thats the point Mathiass, I also see Thermo as an interface between designers and developers. And such interfaces are needed!! It´s great, I like it!
