Flex 3 Beta 2 Details this Week, Wed-Mon

I am going to be blogging about Flex 3 Beta 2 details this Wednesday to next Monday. Each day, starting on Wednesday Sept 27, I will be covering the details within Flex 3 Beta 2 in detail. Many of these features have not been discussed publicly and the team has been heads down coding like mad. I am really looking forward to the Flex 3 Beta 2 release, it is easily the best build of Flex Builder to date and we have some surprises in store. On Monday Oct 1, this series will end with 2 key announcements regarding Flex Builder 3 pricing changes and the expansion of the Flex Family.

Surely you didn't think I would have blogged ALL the features in June!

Trust me, you will not be disappointed, the Flex/AIR/Flash Player teams have been very very busy! It should be a wild week as the teams prepare for the beta 2 of the best release of Flex yet, Flex 3!

Flex 3 Beta 2 is right around the corner at MAX!

Ted :)

    *crosses fingers*
please have code formatting and full refactoring support... please...

Either way, I'm excited :) See you @ MAX!

    *last minute feature request* :

multiple CSS selectors in one styleName.

    ie: styleName="red bold"

That would save on a lot css code.

    here here, Peter!

    Peter...YES! :-D I'd welcome that.

Ted, you're not going to steel the MAX thunder are you? ;-)

Peter, I agree. I would also like to see CSS support non-style based properties. It would be nice to just say:

    .full{

    width:100%,
    height:100%

    }

That said I have it on pretty good authority that this will not be in Flex 3.

Make sure to add a feature request in the Flex bug base at http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/

    John,

No I will not be stealing any Flex thunder at MAX. I will be honing in on the details that might get missed. There is lots of Thunder to go around.

    Cheers,

    Ted

    Great news Ted.

Last June I was like a kid at Christmas reading your posts. I'm sure there are many people out there who feel as I do, and would like to say a big thank you to the whole team for running this software as public betas.

I just want to be able to buy it for real!

I can't tell you how much Flex has changed my working life. I just adore it.

We're currently coding a large(ish) intranet application for a very successful UK construction company. The company in question design and build beautiful cutting edge buildings. They wanted software that not only worked in the way they needed but also looked as stylish as their creations. Using Flex has enabled us to transform what could have been a very dry application into something that reflects our clients design philosophy. They’re happy, I’m happy and now you tell me it’s only going to get better.

    I can hardly wait.

    Cheers

It's no effect when i order the data that from mysql with AdvancedGrid. Maybe someone has reported it, but it is really useful when programing.

Hey Ted, can you put a word in with a developer and tell them to test the filereference.upload command through ssl on firefox? And get it working in flex 3? :) I'm 99% sure that the ssl handshake is implemented incorrectly although it works in IE. This is probably a flash runtime thing though; nothing flex can do about that =(
You remember me being the smart developer at introNetworks, I hope ;)
I'm trying to convince this other company to use flex, but that one bug is making the process hard =(

    Hi Ted,

Is there any recognition that the filereference.upload through ssl on firefox is a Flex or Flash Player issue? I certainly can't get it to work. It seems to be a common problem.

    Cheers, Gerry
