There is a new version of Director in development, Director 11. We are bringing in several engineers to present on Director 11 3 times at MAX 2007 in Chicago and we are adding a BOF for Director.

So yes there will be sessions on Director 11 at MAX.
Adobe MAX 2007. Connect. Discover. Inspire.
Cheers,
Ted
DIGG IT!
I'll try to be positive here... What?
I don't see Director listed as a product here: http://www.adobemax2007.com/na/sessions/locator/
nor is it listed on any session.
Are you saying Director 11 will be released at MAX?
Frankly, I had the impression that Director was being "sunseted".
Phillip Kerman
Phillip,
Director sessions will be listed shortly. They were added in our content meeting on Monday, 07/30. My blog is faster than the MAX 2007 site. Sorry for that.
Director 11 will showcased at MAX. It is a product in development.
Ted Patrick
CORRECTION:
There is 1 session on Director 11 given 3 times at MAX 2007. There also be 1 BOF session for Director.
Ted
Time to brush up on your Lingo, Phillip!
I was getting worried, the new logo spells “Di” and I thought they were killing it off. They need to wire in Actionscript3 support for the Director plugin, it still owns the 3d game market online but lingo sucks.
How about this, add in haxe scripting for Director and watch it take off... Right now director doesn't have much going on in the IDE category.
Great news! Looks like I'll have to take a trip to Chicago in the fall :)
Hooolaa Great!
$1000+ conference fee and a trip to Chicago just to hear more vague descriptions and nebulous release-dates?
I'm excited about D11, but increasingly disappointed by the (new) Director team's utter lack of concern or willingness to communicate with the product's community.
I'll save my time and money for the actual release.
I hope..
Director still is out there and being used in various capacities. I work in both ... more so in Flash these days, but there are many instances where director fits better. If they get their act together, like using Actionscript 3 in Director - That would be the ticket for me. Humna Humna!
please give Director 11 session in Adobe MAX Japan 2007 .
Just in reply of Ryan [draw.logic]:
Lingo is better then actionscript, and when u know it, it's powerfull.
News? What did they say?
(Okay, I'm probably a little early in Europe :-)
yea! What did they say?? Hurry and tell us! We all want to know!
1. When will it be out?
2. Mac intel compatible?
3. New 3D?
4. FLV Compatible?
Oh please.. :)
Arghh! still no news?
Can't wait for a decent report either --- for the meantime, I've found this:
http://www.google.com/notebook/public/00214254824444748337/BDQsiIgoQ7prs3dUi?hl=en
Thanks for that link!
Finally something to show the management team here :-)
what would be really cool is to add Lua or Python as a scripting language, but for now I have no problem with Lingo
still no new 3d engine... sad. hope in havok tough!
In reply to anonymous coward: Lingo is better then actionscript, and when u know it, it's powerful.
I know lingo and yes it is powerful, I am talking more about what the market says about it. Lingo is largely an odd syntax and api language. It is different than many common languages that prevents it from growth. If it is so great why is there emphasis on more javascript support (AS3 is javascript2 based)? It is because the market is telling them people aren't as receptive to it. It is a good decent language and should be bigger, it isn't and thus my comments.
I won't buy Director 11 if there's no vertical synchronisation.
I'll work with another 3d engine which alloxs VSync
thanks
what about havok?
will be in D11?
intel bought Havok, but what about adobe and intel relationship?
Lingo is friggin lame. If Adobe actually wants to attract newcomers to Director they need a true OO language like ActionScript, and also a modern syntax that people will actually recognize. If you think Lingo is awesome, then I feel for you.
Dave,
LINGO is a great language.
On the top of that, LINGO and ActionScript have many things in common.
I use them all (Lingo,AS1,AS2 and AS3).
LINGO is not lame.
It's very intuitive and has an excellent compiler.
LINGO is a superb language for designers and anyone creative who aren't too keen on geeky code. I feel I can do almost anything with lingo. I wonder how on earth they managed to make it so easy. JavaScript based languages and especially Flash are a nightmare to work with although very powerful.
Hi Ted - please can you confirm:
Can AS3 flash cs3 content (and flex?) be imported and played in Director 11?
The feature list is not clear.
Director rocks, thanks god adobe make a new release !.
Make great thinks with it....
I am a lingo programmer. I am to flash and Java Scripting too. But not updated to some of the latest developments like Flex, combination of Flash-Flex and Director. Can any give me some links that will give me a fair idea about the integration and standardization going on.
I still love lingo. Lingo with pure OO features as AS 3.0 (Still need enhancement) will really rock. Is that what is expected with all th existing power of Lingo?
I just got hold of Director 11 a couple of days ago and am searching for a detailed tut for Director 11, now. Can somebody get me an advice? Thanks
i'm still waiting that Adobe include Director in other products like flex (include .dcr files).
The 3d director engine are the best and powerfull online 3d since several years.
I'm sad because Adobe and Intel won't develope in this area.
Director 11 is a joke for lingo programers, new skin, cero new development
