Flipper (FlexApps Viewer) by Cynergy Systems

DIGG IT!     4 Comments Published Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 11:51 AM .

Kellen Styler of the UEG (User Experience Group) at Cynergy Systems created Flipper while learning the deeper side of UI design in Flex 2. It was a generic Flickr image viewer but after pointing it at the FlexApps Flickr account I demanded a copy for my blog! I am working on an uploader component for FlexApps to get many more images of FlexApps onto Flickr.

Flipper FlexApps Viewer By Cynergy Systems

Special thanks to Dave Wolf, Carson Hager, Aaron Adams, and especially Kellen Styler for creating Flipper.

The parallax motion when full screen is a great effect.

Would you like your FlexApp on FlexApps???

1. Capture images of flex application.

2. Email: flexapps@adobe.com
SUBJECT: {FLEX APP NAME} by {DEVELOPER/COMPANY}
BODY: {DESCRIPTION}

3. Attach Images (NO ZIP FILES, NO ZIP FILES!!!)

4. SEND!

I would be very interested in seeing other FlexApps mashups in Flex!

Cheers,

Ted :)

    very beautiful app - i love the look. however, i don't understand what the user interface is set up to do... as a user, i just don't see what the scrolling around does for me as a user. it is sexy tho don't get me wrong ;)

    Mitch -- Glad you love the design! To be honest, the original intent of Flipper was to experiment with skinning and implementing a Flash-like experience in Flex. The vibe we get on the street is "Flex apps are all the same" or "you can't do things that you could do in Flash alone". Flipper was an opportunity to show that you really have a lot of freedom in design in your Flex apps, and that good things can happen when you give UI designers a copy of Flex Builder. :) In terms of a great, useable application, some things I know Kellen is working on in the next version include:

    - Adding standard back/forward navigation so users can "fly" to each photo in sequence

    - Providing a "View All" option for a quick scan and selection of available photos.

    Full screen crashes on Opera 9.10, win xp pro sp 2 and latest Flash Player ( >= 9 ).
